About Dr. Sal Farruggio
Advanced Plastic Surgery is led by Salvatore A. Farruggio, MD, FACS, extensively trained in all aspects of plastic surgery, specializing in body contouring and facial plastic surgery. With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Farruggio performs most surgical procedures, utilizing the latest techniques, in the-state-of-the-art, fully accredited operating suite in the practice’s brand new Scarsdale location.
Dr. Farruggio received a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University then attended medical school at New York Medical College, graduating in 1988. He subsequently trained five years in general surgery at Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He then went on to complete a rigorous training program in plastic surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His plastic surgery fellowship included cosmetic surgery training at the prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Farruggio is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. For a physician, Board Certification signifies the highest level of accreditation within a given specialty. Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is a qualification not easily obtained. It demonstrates a high level of training and education, necessary for achieving optimal results and patient satisfaction. It remains the trusted credential patients rely on to help choose a qualified specialist.

Hello and thank you for your interest in an aesthetic enhancement treatment at Advanced Plastic Surgery. My mission in the field of plastic surgery is simple — I want to help people be the best that they can be. For more than 25 years in practice, I have consistently striven to deliver the most advanced, effective, and highest quality surgical services in a friendly, caring, and compassionate environment.
Like you, perhaps, I often start each day and ask myself, “How can I feel and look better?”
In today’s fitness-oriented and media-driven society, people are increasingly concerned about body image. I understand how your outward appearance can affect the way you feel, and I am very sensitive to my patient’s feelings about themselves. I listen carefully and respectfully to each patient in order to create a unique individualized care plan that meets or exceeds the patient’s needs and realistic expectations.
You may have done some research before considering treatment or talked with other patients. That’s great! Knowledge is important, and there should be nothing mysterious about plastic surgery. However, that information can be good and bad. Today, there is so much information out there that patients may be easily confused, and much of it is misleading and often incorrect.
My style of patient contact is direct, honest, and personal. You should feel comfortable to ask me anything related to a treatment or surgery you are considering. I am here to help you make an informed decision and fully understand the benefits and risks associated with surgery or other aesthetic treatments. In fact, I am known for telling it like it is. I like to educate my patients, offer genuine advice, and may even recommend they take more time to think through their needs and wants.
It is only with the best information that you will be able to make the best choice – for you!
I care not only about the changes I make in your appearance, but also about how you continue to feel. Often a bond is formed with my patients, and it’s not uncommon for a patient to refer to me by my nickname, Dr. Sal. I wear this with honor as it represents a deep connection with my patients and success in helping them feel comfortable with themselves and satisfied with their results.

Welcome to our new state-of-the-art facility in Scarsdale
Advanced Plastic Surgery and Dr. Sal Farruggio have a long history in the community, but our location is brand new!
In summer 2022, we opened our new office suite in the charming Village of Scarsdale. The modern and inviting space welcomes patients to a private, comfortable setting to make every visit, from consultation to post-procedure follow-up, a personalized and pleasant experience. You’ll wish you could stay for a while, but you won’t need to.
Your time is valuable, and so is Dr. Sal’s, therefore, we purposely do not overbook or double book our patients. After just a short wait, you will be escorted to an office, consultation or treatment room, or to our surgical suite.
With our new location, we’ve brought all services in one space. At Advanced Plastic Surgery, you will enjoy a streamlined experience in a relaxing atmosphere in our fully accredited surgical facility. Accredited centers must comply with stringent standards governing patient safety, professional training and the quality of the facility. Patients undergoing procedures in an accredited facility should be assured of the same level of care and safety as those receiving care in a hospital but with more convenience and less hassle. However, should a patient prefer or require a hospital stay, Dr. Farruggio is on staff at both NY Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital and White Plains Hospital.
